Our Program
Kyon Kennel is a small, family-run German Shepherd breeding program located on our 15-acre farm just outside of Higbee, Missouri. We are dedicated to breeding and raising beautiful German Shepherds in both standard and non-standard colors, with an emphasis on proper structure, outstanding temperaments, health, and versatility. Our goal is to produce German Shepherds that can thrive in a variety of homes, whether as beloved family companions, active pets, or sport prospects. We believe a well-bred German Shepherd should not only be beautiful, but should also possess the temperament, structure, health, and confidence necessary to become a valued member of their family.
All of our dogs are AKC registered and DNA verified. We utilize health and genetic testing through AKC DNA + Health, Embark, PennHip, and the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) as part of our commitment to making responsible breeding decisions. We carefully evaluate our dogs for genetic health concerns as well as hip and elbow health before incorporating them into our breeding program.
Our puppies are raised using a combination of the Breeder’s Boot Camp and Puppy Culture programs. They are exposed to age-appropriate socialization, enrichment, handling, and developmental exercises throughout their time with us. We also incorporate additional temperament testing to help us better understand each puppy’s individual personality and strengths, allowing us to make thoughtful placement recommendations and help match each puppy with the home that best suits them. We believe that bringing a puppy home is the beginning of a lifelong relationship, and we want to be there to help make that experience as successful as possible.
